Is it possible to wash the components of a coffee machine in a dishwasher? If yes, which ones and how?

Today I want to talk to you about cleaning home coffee machines. In particular, we will look at how and which components of a coffee machine can be washed in the dishwasher.

But before we begin, I would like to emphasise the importance of keeping your coffee machine clean and sanitised. A dirty coffee machine can in fact affect the quality of the coffee you prepare, as well as posing a health risk.

Having said this, let's move on to the main question: which components of a home coffee machine can be washed in the dishwasher?

In general, most components of coffee machines can be washed in the dishwasher (used capsule holder, cup rest/holder, drip tray, reservoir lid)

- The cup support where you put the coffee cup

- If the cup support includes a steel grid/component you can wash that too

- The drip collector/inside tray which is the part that collects any water leaks inside the coffee machine

- The used capsule collector. This is the drawer-shaped part where used capsules are collected

- The lid of the coffee machine alone

Can I wash the tank in the dishwasher?

In our opinion it is better not to wash the reservoir in the dishwasher as it is a very delicate component. Some coffee machine manufacturers recommend that it can be washed in the dishwasher, but it depends on the model and how it is designed.

If you wish, you can read the instruction manual of your coffee machine carefully to find out if it can be washed in the dishwasher.

But our advice is still to wash it by hand with the help of a non-abrasive tip and a limescale remover to properly remove any marks left by the limescale in the water.

Obviously you cannot put the whole coffee machine in the dishwasher, as it contains multiple electrical components and you would therefore damage it irreparably

In conclusion, washing certain components of the coffee machine in the dishwasher is a good practice to keep your coffee machine clean and hygienic.
